Everyday Survival

As it all comes together, I attempted to show the everyday struggles a small bug deals with when it interacts with our human world. Unfortunately, simply staying alive is its biggest struggle each and every day.

Simplicity

This short clip catches the bug before its interaction with human life.

Still Motion

This clip demonstrates a brief idea I decided to pursue that uses still motion. It also emphasizes shoes as a true enemy to the bug.

Perspective

A clip that I developed early when I was still deciding on making the bug fly, or leaving it to a more crawling type creature. I was also experimenting with different perspectives throughout the clip.

Experimental Stills

This is one of my favorite truly experimental clips I created. Though made because of mistakes with learning more about my camera, I ended up liking the shaky images. My idea behind this first clip is looking at crawling through plants in different ways that humans usually see them.

Reasons Behind the Madness

As a production strategy, I went out with the idea of using the camera to manipulate the world, giving not only me the all people who view my blog a different perspective of the world. After my first drift, I realized my sound had one thing that you can rarely go a day without hearing; people. I decided that to find the interaction of nature versus industry I would stay in the city, find a quiet area and slowly explore my way from the quiet to the sound of industry. With these factors in mind, I began to experiment with perspective in my imagery. In the end I decided on the imagery capturing strategy of taking only shots that could be seen through the eyes of a small insect or bug. Due to the fact that bugs are everywhere, I took into account the quiet areas directly outside my dorms that led up to the thousands of students interacting with that area everyday.
